The 8th Organic Asia Congress successfully took place in Ninh Binh City

Organic Asia Congress

The 8th Organic Asia Congress successfully took place in Ninh Binh City, Vietnam 17-19 September 2025. This year’s congress has been co-organised by IFOAM-Organics Asia and Vietnam Organic Agriculture Association (VOAA). The three-day event featured plenary sessions focused on Policy, Market development and Organic Practices. The congress theme was “Organics for a Better Future” which included policymakers, experts, scientists, businesses, governmental authorities and private sector representatives. Over 400 participants from 33 countries across Asia and beyond attended the event. In the opening ceremony the participants received the remarks of IFOAM- Organics Asia President (Mr. Mathew John) and the local VIPs.

The three-day conference addressed the themes:

  • Organic Agriculture and Rural Revitalization – Case of Lingqiu County, China
  • Organic Development of Kisarazu City, Japan
  • Organic Development in Ha Noi – Vietnam. The experience and lessons learnt
  • Soilkee System: Improving soil health and agricultural productivity
  • Impacts of PGS in Asia Successes, Challenges, lessons learned, Steps forward
  • Apply biological control to manage mealybugs in organic orange – A case of Ham Yen, Tuyen Quang province – Viet Nam

As side activity of the conference, the host provided special sessions on “Awards for Organic Agriculture Promotion Journalism – The Vietnam Organic Agriculture Magazine contest”.

In addition to the conference itself, and in the third day participants could take advantage of visiting farms in the Ninh Binh Golden Camellia Park as well as the opportunity to visit Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex which is one of the declared UNESCO world heritage since 2014 in Southeast Asia. 

The IFOAM Organics Asia board members actively contributed in different sessions as well as having the opportunity to have a board meeting together with Jennifer Chang (Executive Director) and all staff (Shaikh Tanveer Hossain – Director of Policy and Strategy, Kong Haoyuan (Harry) – Project Manager, and Nandan – Communications Manager).
